Job Summary/Basic Function
Provides leadership and oversight for the Office of Mentoring Programs under the direction of the Executive Director for Student Retention & Success. The Associate Director is responsible for the development, coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of campus-wide mentoring initiatives that support student engagement, belonging, persistence, leadership development, career readiness, and other high-impact educational practices.
The Associate Director leads the day-to-day operations of the Office of Mentoring Programs, including supervision of professional and student staff, management of departmental resources, and implementation of departmental priorities. This position collaborates with academic colleges, student support areas, and campus partners to strengthen mentoring practices, peer educator development, and relationship-centered student support across the university.
The Associate Director serves as the department’s lead for university-wide mentoring consultation, mentoring assessment, cross-campus mentoring initiatives, and mentoring-related high-impact educational practices while supporting the continued growth and effectiveness of mentoring initiatives at Weber State University.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience developing, implementing, coordinating, or leading educational, mentoring, engagement, retention, leadership development, peer educator, or student success initiatives for college students
- Experience coordinating programs, initiatives, partnerships, or student support efforts within higher education
- Supervisory or leadership experience in higher education settings, including supervision of professional staff, student staff, peer educators, interns, graduate assistants, or other student leadership positions
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading mentoring, peer leadership, student engagement, transition, or student development initiatives.
- Demonstrated understanding of student success, persistence, belonging, student learning, and student development within higher education.
- Experience utilizing assessment, program evaluation, and student data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Experience facilitating mentor training, workshops, professional development, or peer educator development initiatives.
- Experience collaborating across academic and student affairs areas.
- Experience supporting mentoring program development, consultation, or implementation efforts.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills.

The annual salary for this position starts at $60,000 and may go up from there depending on candidate qualifications.
