Associate Director of Health Center (Registered Nurse) Position Summary

The Associate Director of the Health Center is a Registered Nurse who provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership in support of the Health Center Director. This role helps oversee comprehensive health services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), complex medical needs, and mental health conditions across assisted living and vocational programs.

The Associate Director supports daily nursing operations, staff development, care coordination, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement while promoting clinical excellence and person-centered care.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

• Serve as second-in-command and primary support to the Health Center Director.
• Assist with daily operations, staffing coordination, priorities, and workflow.
• Coordinate team meetings and cross-department planning.

Clinical Oversight

• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to nursing staff.
• Support health assessments, care planning, clinical protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in incident reviews, health risk evaluations, and follow-up.

Quality & Compliance

• Support compliance with state, federal, agency, assisted living, and nursing regulations.
• Assist with licensing reviews, audits, and surveys.
• Monitor quality indicators and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Staff Development

• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and competency development of nursing personnel.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback to nursing, health services, and assisted living staff.
• Promote professionalism, teamwork, and person-centered care.

Care Coordination

• Collaborate with nursing, behavioral health, medical providers, and program leadership.
• Coordinate specialty care, external appointments, and emergency response efforts.
• Assist with communication to families, guardians, and regulatory partners.

Strategic Support

• Assist with new health programs, technology upgrades, and system improvements.
• Support organizational growth and expansion of health services.
• Help develop departmental goals, metrics, and strategic plans.

Core Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• 5+ years of nursing experience; experience supporting individuals with IDD, complex medical needs, or behavioral health conditions preferred.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in a healthcare, assisted living, or community-based setting.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of 7 or more employees .
• Experience with health assessments, care planning, clinical protocols, incident reviews, risk assessments, and quality improvement.
• Strong knowledge of assisted living and nursing regulatory requirements.
• Ability to develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Must be available to work weekends as needed based on operational and clinical needs.
