Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Administers the summer public interest stipend program,including leading the evaluation committee
- Serves as liaison with the Public Interest Law Foundation, theJohn Paul Stevens Foundation, and the Maurer administration.
- Administers the Career Service Office's student travel fund,including evaluation applications and working with theadministration to help students get reimbursement for approvedexpenses.
- Works with the Assistant Dean of Career Services and StudentServices to support students applying for clerkships; includingdeveloping expertise on OSCAR(Online System for ClerkshipApplication and Review) and preparing and submitting all clerkshipapplications.
- Helps plan and lead career treks to different markets ofinterest to students.
- Contributes to the Legal Profession 1 class.
General Responsibilities
- Assists with professional and career development of studentsand alumni through career assessments, exploration,decision-making, goal setting, and planning. Focuses efforts onresume building, interview skill development, mock interview, andjob search preparation and navigation; graduate school applicationand interview preparation through counseling appointments andconsultations.
- Develops and delivers workshops on career development whichinclude networking strategies, interviewing, resume and coverletter writing skills, portfolio development, and using theinternet for career search.
- Supports faculty and students with career exploration,internships, job shadow experiences, presentations, andfacilitation of resources available for career development.
- Serves on various community and institutional committees tobuild partnerships across the university and among comparableuniversities to build knowledge base.
- Assists in the process of collecting and tracking data foroffice assessment purposes. Utilizes data to assist in the creationof office objectives and goals to meet the needs of the studentpopulation.
- Works through issues with a variety of stakeholders: students,employers, alumni, and faculty.
- May provide guidance and delegate administrative tasks to othercareer services staff. May make process recommendations forimproved operational efficiency.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
Preferred
- Graduate degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years in career consulting or related field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
