General Summary: The Managed Care Contracting Associate Director will provide leadership and management oversight of Market Access Contract processes by facilitating negotiation and administration of Payer, Provider and Trade & Distribution contracts. Partners with Account Management, Finance, Government Pricing & Rebate Operations, GTN, Legal, Marketing and Payer Marketing to identify and evaluate contracting opportunities across marketed products and pipeline products.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end Payer contract development, including pre-deal analytics, negotiations, post-deal analytics, and governance, negotiation/redlining, and legal review; log, track, report, and facilitate opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal processes and documentation with Finance, Legal, and Market Access teams.
  • Maintain calendar and matrix of bids/offers; coordinate communication on contract development/execution status.
  • Transition executed contracts to operational teams for implementation and/or adjudication; outline key terms and provide explanations as needed.
  • Provide insights to inform GTN forecasting, contracting, pricing decisions, and business planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally for internal contract processing, review, and reporting.
  • Assist Account Managers with ad-hoc analysis, business planning, and contract performance review.
  • Use financial models to calculate and verify business scenarios.
  • Advise on contract administration issues, including rebate analysis/payments and dispute resolution for rebate claims.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Progressive experience in finance, accounting, sales, government pricing, contracting, or related fields.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical pricing government programs and regulations; ability to determine contract impact.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented; define problems, research solutions, analyze implications, present results to stakeholders, and implement solutions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational/project management; polished written/verbal communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills/customer service; able to work across the organization and with external experts.
  • Self-motivated, team player; minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, pivot, and work under constant deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical and managed care industry (formulary coverage, market share, profitability).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline required.
  • Typically 8+ years in payer contracting, contract administration and/or analytics in Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences or related industries (or equivalent education/experience).
