Well-established general dental practice in Red Bluff seeking an Associate Dentist for a flexible full-time or part-time position. Ideally looking for someone 3–4 days per week, though we’re open to discussing a schedule that works well for the right candidate.

Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including dental examinations and medical history reviews, to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Deliver high-quality general dentistry services such as fillings, crowns, bridges, and preventive care to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct dental extractions, root canal therapy, and other oral surgeries with precision and aseptic technique.
- Utilize dental terminology effectively to explain procedures and treatment options clearly to patients.
- Manage medical documentation accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining detailed medical records.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Use dental imaging tools like X-rays and digital scans to diagnose issues accurately and plan appropriate interventions.
- Stay current with advancements in dental technology and techniques related to prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry to provide innovative care.
Qualifications
- Valid CA license to practice dentistry with current DEA registration if applicable.
- Proven experience in general dentistry within a clinical or dental office setting; familiarity with dental office software Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control protocols, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Experience performing dental extractions, root canal therapy, prosthodontics procedures, and pediatric dentistry is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics; compassionate patient care is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for medical records management and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in medical documentation and medical imaging.

Pay
- $90 - $105 per hour
Our daily minimum will range from $700-$800, depending on experience, hours available, and services offered. Pay will be either the daily minimum guarantee or 30% of adjusted production (whichever is higher).
Shift & Schedule
- Flexible schedule
Work Hours: Flexible - you tell me what would work for you! Our hygienist is there Tuesday - Friday. Three 8-hr days per week would be ideal, but we can likely accommodate four days per week.
Breaks: 60-minute meal break (not counted as work hours).
Weekend Work: No weekend or holiday shifts required.

Dr. Shimp does all kinds of advanced dentistry and would be happy to have an associate who sticks to bread and butter dentistry, or one who is similarly experienced and comfortable doing more.
Job Description
- Deliver comprehensive general dentistry (restorative, cosmetic, minor oral surgery, etc.).
- Diagnose and create personalized treatment plans.
- Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, crowns, and dentures.
- Interpret dental X-rays and other diagnostic tests.

Biography
Dr. Shimp took over this practice from a retiring general dentist in May 2026. He earned his dental degree from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco and is highly skilled in a wide variety of procedures, ranging from routine restorative care and wisdom teeth extractions to orthodontics, including Invisalign.
Furthermore, Dr. Shimp proudly served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy, where he provided care to service members and their families in Okinawa, Japan; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Newport, Rhode Island. Originally from Indiana, Dr. Shimp is happy to be settling down here in Northern California with his wife and two young sons, and they are excitedly preparing to welcome a baby girl later this year.
