This is a non-tenured, faculty position which is responsible for assessment of didactic andclinicaleducationfortheDean’soffice.ThispositionreportstotheAZCOMDean.
Positionrequirements:
This position requires a Ph.D. or D.O. from an accredited college in an appropriate field. The AssociateDeanforAcademicAffairsmustremaincurrentinhis/herfieldofeducation and demonstrate proven experience in teaching and academic leadership in medical education.
DutiesandResponsibilitiesfallinto4categories.Theseareteaching,research, service, and administration:
1. Teaching
- ProvideafacultydevelopmentplantotheDeanannually.
- Participateinteachingstudentsinhis/herareaofexpertise.
- ReviewCOMLEXperformancewithAZCOMfacultyonanannualbasis.
- UpdateCOMLEXperformancedataontheAZCOMFastFactswebsite annually.
- FacilitateremediationofstudentswhofailanysectionofCOMLEX.
- ProvidestudentperformancedatatotheCurriculumCommitteetoassistwith course reviews.
- AssisttheAssociateDeanforCurricularIntegrationandFacultyDevelopment with assessment of pre-clinical academic student performance.
- AssisttheAssociateDeanforClinicalEducationwithassessmentofclinical and post-rotation examination student performance.
- Assist the Associate Dean for Clinical Education with tracking of residency placementresults,residencyprogramdirectorsurveys,alumnisurveys,and other data collected relating to student performance.
- Oversee the Director of Assessment and support the Dean with the managementofstudentsonleavesofabsencetoensuretheystayontrack for graduation and residency placement.
- Assist Associate Dean for Clinical Education with maintenance of the ResidencyPlacementMatchToolandfacultydevelopmentonitsusefor student advising.
2. Research&ScholarlyActivity
- Participate and mentor clinical faculty in educational and/or other research. Participation is best documented through publication in peer-reviewed journals,butmayalsobedemonstratedthroughprovisionoflecturesatlocal ornationalclinicalorscientificconferences,presentationatposterprograms, NBOME question writing, or submission of applications for grants.
- Supervisestudents in research projects supported by the AZCOM Dean’s Office.
- SupportfacultymembersintheDepartmentofClinicalEducationin developing their research.
3. Service
- Participate onUniversityand college committeesasassigned,including,but notlimitedtoCurriculumCommittee,andClinicalandPreclinicalPromotions Committees.
- ParticipateinAdmissionsasan interviewer.
- PresentAdmissionstalksonbehalfofthe Dean.
- ParticipateintheAZCOMportionofOrientation.
- HelptoplangraduationactivitiesforAZCOMstudents.
- Participateinfacultydevelopmentprogrammingasapresenter.
- AssisttheDeanandothermembersoftheteamwithMedicalStudent Performance Evaluations annually.
- RepresentAZCOMfacultyateducationalmeetings.
4. Administration
- SuperviseanddevelopfacultyandstaffintheDepartmentofAssessment.
- AssistpreceptordevelopmentthroughfeedbackfromPreceptorReport Card.
- AdvisefacultyintheDepartmentofAssessmentregardingpromotioninrank advancement.
- OverseeanddevelopAZCOM’sDepartmentofAssessmentbudgetannually.
- Doperformanceevaluationsannuallyforallfacultyandstaffreportingtothe Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
- AssistwithannualupdateoftheMidwesternUniversity,ArizonaCollegeof Osteopathic Medicine catalog and AZCOM website.
- AssistinthedevelopmentofannualAACOMreports.
- AssisttheDeanwithaccreditationcomplianceforAZCOM,includingall required annual and mid-cycle reporting.
- AssistwithannualMWUoutcomesassessmentprogramming.
- ManageAZCOMexitandalumni surveys.
- Otherdutiesasassigned bythe Dean.
