We are looking for an experienced and motivated Direct Support Professional to join our growing team at Abilis!

Job Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our residential program, ensuring the well-being and development of the participants. Your responsibilities include providing care, managing household duties, overseeing health and safety, and complying with all relevant standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Foster a safe, supportive environment that promotes residents’ well-being, independence, and personal growth

Assist residents with daily living skills, including personal care, meal planning, grocery shopping, and household maintenance

Implement individualized program goals and support plans while managing behavioral challenges appropriately

Monitor residents’ physical and mental health; coordinate and attend medical appointments as needed

Ensure proper medication administration and adherence to prescribed treatment plans

Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with licensing, regulatory, and organizational standards

Communicate clearly and effectively with residents, families, co-workers, and external service providers

Promote positive social interactions and community integration

Safely supervise residents and use adaptive equipment correctly

Respond to emergencies appropriately and summon emergency personnel when necessary

Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality care

Complete required training and participate in ongoing professional development for licensure and skill enhancement

Qualifications

REQUIRES DDS MED CERT

High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience in rehabilitation, educational, or residential settings preferred

Maintain current CPR and medication certifications; perform CPR or Heimlich maneuver as needed

Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and maturity when supporting individuals with diverse disabilities

Assist the Supervising Counselor with direct care and program goal implementation

Complete all required state training programs

Hold a valid driver’s license and safely operate agency vehicles; able to lift up to 50lbs
