A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation for a full-time, on-site position in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The attorney will manage employer-side workers' compensation cases from evaluation to resolution, providing strategic advice and representation.
Duties
- Handle a caseload of workers' compensation matters from start to finish.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and correspondence.
- Prepare discovery and appear at Workers' Compensation Appeals Board hearings and trials.
- Advise clients on claim exposure, strategy, and risk management.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers and staff to maintain organized case files.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in law and workers' compensation.
- Exposure to labor and employment law.
- Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to employer-side clients.
- Proficient in legal research, including case law and statutes.
- Effective negotiation skills for settlements and mediations.
- Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
- Prior experience in workers' compensation defense is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work collaboratively and interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
