Duties
- Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation claims before the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and Court of Administrative Hearings.
- Defend employment-related claims in state and federal courts, including wrongful discharge and discrimination claims.
- Handle general civil litigation, including personal injury defense.
- Conduct research, investigation, and analysis of cases.
- Prepare pleadings and manage discovery processes.
- Analyze and summarize complex medical data.
- Collaborate with expert witnesses to present evidence effectively.
- Prepare legal briefs and memoranda for motion, trial, and appellate practice.
- Provide clear and concise reports to clients and stakeholders.
- Appear before various courts and administrative bodies.
- Engage in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
- Participate in business development and client events.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Worker's Compensation Act and Rules of Practice.
- Familiarity with Minnesota and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience with motion practice, discovery disputes, and trial preparation.
- Strong negotiation and persuasive skills.
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
Licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
