Responsibilities
- Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute civil litigation cases.
- Conduct legal research and gather evidence for lawsuits, ensuring all relevant facts are considered in legal decisions.
- Prepare and draft legal documents such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Advise clients on business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.
- Supervise legal assistants and paralegals, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest developments in law and the legal industry.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be a licensed attorney in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation, including civil litigation.
- Demonstrated skills in legal research and the preparation of legal documents.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
