Lewis & Roberts, PLLC is currently seeking an associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join our Workers’ Compensation defense team. Responsibilities include representing insurance carriers and businesses, conducting legal research, drafting documents, interviewing witnesses, attending hearings, and advising clients throughout the claims process. The role emphasizes strong research, writing, and communication skills. Salary is competitive and negotiable with health insurance, 401K profit sharing, paid bar dues, and continuing education.
Responsibilities
- Representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured businesses in workers' compensation cases.
- Advising clients on compensability and case strategy.
- Conducting legal research and drafting pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Interviewing witnesses and conducting depositions.
- Attending hearings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
- Developing case strategies.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
- 2-5 years of experience in workers' compensation defense a plus.
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
