Associate Attorney
Direct Counsel is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 0–2 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or general civil defense litigation, to join a growing Litigation Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney looking to gain meaningful courtroom experience, work closely with experienced litigators, and develop a long-term career in litigation.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, possesses exceptional writing and analytical skills, and is committed to providing outstanding client service and effective advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned litigation matters from inception through resolution with appropriate supervision.
- Collaborate with Partners and senior attorneys on case strategy and complex legal projects.
- Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare analyses in support of defense strategies.
- Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and trials.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel regarding case status and legal developments.
- Assist in preparing witnesses, exhibits, and evidence for hearings and trial proceedings.
- Ensure the timely, efficient, and effective handling of assigned matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the applicable State Bar.
- 0–4 years of litigation experience, preferably in defense or general civil litigation.
- Exposure to state court litigation procedures is strongly preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
