Associate Attorney

We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our firm’s litigation team. The Associate Attorney will manage a diverse caseload, conduct legal research and drafting, represent clients in court and at hearings, and support senior attorneys in trial preparation and strategy. The ideal candidate is a skilled litigator with experience or interest in criminal defense and personal injury matters, who demonstrates exceptional legal judgment, client advocacy, and professional ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters from intake through resolution, including personal injury and criminal defense cases.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Draft and file court documents, attend hearings, client interviews, mediations, and depositions, and represent clients in court as needed.
  • Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys; prepare trial exhibits, witness examinations, and trial notebooks.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and expert witnesses; provide regular case updates and billing records.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, subpoenas, and coordinating document review.
  • Negotiate settlements and plea agreements where appropriate, prioritizing client outcomes and risk management.
  • Maintain accurate case files, billing entries, and comply with firm policies and ethical rules, meeting deadlines and court-imposed schedules.
  • Participate in client development, intake interviews, and community outreach to help grow the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in TX.
  • 3+ years of litigation experience preferred; experience in criminal defense and/or personal injury law strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated skills in litigation, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Familiarity with courtroom procedures, rules of evidence, and civil/criminal procedure.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present complex legal issues clearly to judges and clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, client-focused approach, and proven ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis), case management software, and standard office applications.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to court, depositions, and client meetings as required.
