Associate Attorney - Medical Malpractice
We are a respected and growing law firm ranked in the top 125 and are looking to bring on an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join our team in El Segundo, California. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigator who enjoys handling complex healthcare and professional liability matters while working in a collaborative, client-focused environment. The Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney will manage a diverse caseload involving the defense of physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, nurses, and other medical professionals in medical negligence and healthcare liability claims. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, confident courtroom advocate, and skilled relationship builder with strong litigation experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage medical malpractice defense cases from inception through resolution.
- Conduct and defend depositions, including parties, witnesses, and medical experts.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
- Develop litigation strategies and evaluate case exposure.
- Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
- Collaborate with clients, experts, and healthcare professionals to build strong defense strategies.
- Maintain accurate case reporting and provide regular updates to clients and carriers.
- Participate in business development and client relationship activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
- 3+ years of civil litigation experience; medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred.
- Strong deposition, motion practice, and case management skills.
- Trial experience or significant trial preparation experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
