A confidential California-based law practice is seeking an experienced litigation associate to handle a mix of civil litigation and creditor-side bankruptcy matters. This role offers hands‑on ownership of files, meaningful client contact, and the chance to work across state court disputes and bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters.

THE ROLE

  • Manage a docket of creditor‑side civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Handle creditor bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 case activity
  • Draft and argue motions, manage written discovery, and take or defend depositions as needed
  • Prepare pleadings and written advocacy, including briefs and supporting declarations
  • Appear for hearings and conferences in state court and bankruptcy court
  • Develop case strategy, evaluate risk, and drive efficient file progression
  • Communicate with clients and provide practical guidance throughout the lifecycle of matters

Location: California (Southern California)

Schedule

Flexible, remote, hybrid, or in‑office options (hybrid typically includes in‑office time 2 days per week)

Compensation

Base salary range: $130,000 to $200,000

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in civil litigation, with a focus on representing creditors and creditor bankruptcy
  • Ability to independently manage files across both civil litigation and bankruptcy matters
  • Experience handling creditor bankruptcy matters
  • Active membership in the California Bar
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

  • Strong written advocacy and courtroom presentation skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Billable target: 160 hours per month (1,920 annually)
