Associate Actuary - PricingAs an Associate Actuary - Pricing at MMG, you will be involved with all aspects of pricing our personal lines and small commercial insurance products. This includes building rate level indications, preparing filings, completing predictive modeling projects, and presenting to internal stakeholders. As a member of a small actuarial staff, you will also have an opportunity to work on a variety of other projects that could include reserving, ERM, cat modeling, and analytics projects across the organization (claims, underwriting, marketing, etc.).This hybrid role (3 days in the office, 2 days from home) reports to the Director of Actuarial and Business Intelligence and can be based at any of our offices (Presque Isle, ME; Lancaster, PA; Portsmouth, NH; Richmond, VA).What You'll Do:Enhance pricing model methodologies, including calculations for expenses, large losses, profit provision, trend, LDF, and catastrophe/reinsuranceUse actuarial best practices to develop rate level indications by LOBPrepare rate filings and objection responses for state DOIsCreate slide decks for leadership and present/defend findingsModernize processes for rate level indications, predictive modeling, and rate filings through automation and technologyBuild and maintain predictive models for pricing and other areas as neededComplete ad hoc projects for pricing and other actuarial areas, including but not limited to, reserving, cat modeling, ERM, and business planningMentor and train junior actuarial staffWhat You Bring:BA/BS in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or related field5+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in pricing or predictive modelingACAS/FCAS credential OR 10+ years actuarial experienceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong decision making abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to work on a variety of actuarial projects outside of pricing as neededAdvanced understanding of software such as SQL, R, Python, and Power BIExperience with actuarial pricing/modeling software such as Emblem, Radar, Akur8, or Earnix is preferred but not requiredExperience with both personal and commercial lines is preferred but not requiredExperience with regulatory environment in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic is preferred but not requiredExperience with ISO, S&P Global, AM Best, or SERFF is preferred but not requiredEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
