Associate Director, Epidemiology Operations, Planning and Strategy (MedTech Epidemiology & Real World Data Science)

Purpose/Responsibilities:

  • Lead Operations, Planning, and Strategy for the MedTech Epidemiology team; conduct strategic planning and corporate development initiatives.
  • Build people/process/systems capabilities through internal/external industry intelligence.
  • Ensure departmental procedures comply with state/federal regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Formulate high-level strategic implementation and milestone tracking; coordinate global stakeholder communications and execution.
  • Organize MedTech Epidemiology Leadership Team meetings (agenda, minutes, action item follow-up).
  • Coordinate strategic priority workgroups (AI, Enterprise Data Licensing, Partnerships, Benefit-Risk, RWE Readiness).
  • Develop annual goals/objectives, end-of-year summaries, and performance/ROI measures for completed projects.
  • Create strategy and slide decks for senior leadership and newsletters.
  • Manage external data partnerships (operations, planning, contracting) for real-world evidence studies.
  • Represent the team across J&J Finance, Procurement, Law, Healthcare Compliance, HR, and business finance/operations.
  • Strengthen internal partnerships (Medical Safety, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Quality, Regulatory) and manage study/data purchase/contractor coordination.
  • Coordinate public-private partnerships (e.g., NEST, EU Innovative Health Initiative, emerging Japan/China partnerships).
  • Plan and implement AI practice adoption for the MedTech Community.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s (preferred); Master’s in management, public health, healthcare, finance, or administration (preferred).
  • Experience (required): 5+ years in similar experience; coordinating teams and leading financial budgets; planning programs and preparing strategic reports; setting targets, tracking collaborations/accomplishments, and meeting timelines.
  • Required skills: strong writing/reporting; budget spreadsheet tracking and financial communication; partner with SLT to execute culture/engagement activities.
  • Preferred: operations/planning/project management experience; PMI certification (PMP/CAPM); research project or finance experience in pharma/medical devices.

  • Up to 10% domestic travel.
