Our client, an investment firm, is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Product Engineering to join their team in Los Angeles, CA!

The role is a hybrid product manager and software engineer. As an AVP in Product Engineering, you will be at the front lines of understanding user needs and turning them into scalable, impactful technology solutions—hands-on and end-to-end. This role is ideal for someone who is equally passionate about building great products and writing great code. You will partner directly with users and stakeholders to define requirements, prototype solutions, and deploy production-ready systems—often in rapid, iterative cycles.Responsibilities:Engage with users to understand pain points, workflows, and unmet needs.Translate user insights into clear product requirements, workflows, and use cases.Prioritize features based on user value, technical feasibility, and time-to-impact.Design and implement scalable, maintainable software solutions and services with modern architectures.Lead rapid prototyping and test new ideas, iterating based on feedback and performance.Manage technical tradeoffs and recommend pragmatic solutions under time or resource constraints.Contribute to architecture discussions, write production-grade code, and conduct peer code reviews.Ensure system performance, reliability, and security across deployments.Facilitate user testing, feedback loops, and documentation of new capabilities.Work closely with designers, data team, and operations to bring products to life.Coordinate end-to-end delivery from concept to deployment, including QA and launch planning.Ensure technical feasibility and alignment between business goals and engineering work.Monitor usage, performance, and feedback post-launch; drive improvements.Contribute to agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retrospectives) and engineering best practices.Propose enhancements to architecture, tooling, and development workflows.Qualifications:Bachelors Degree.5–8 years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ years of product-facing or cross-functional work.Strong coding ability in one or more modern languages (.Net Core).Experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications (e.g., Azure).Experience with full-stack development (frontend frameworks e.g., React w/ node.js + backend APIs).Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product development lifecycles.Comfortable gathering requirements directly from users and making prioritization trade-offs.Experience designing and building in depth workflows, systems, writing in depth requirements, product road mapping / future state vision, defining OKRs, maintaining backlog and prioritization queue.Able to work independently and flexibly, wearing multiple hats as needed.Familiarity with enterprise software, internal tooling, or workflow automation.Exposure to analytics or ML/AI tools in a product setting.Experience / interest in vibe engineering.Demonstrated experience working in Agile team setting using Confluence and JIRA.Private credit workflow/debt expertise; previous financial services, portfolio management/PE, banking/financial, etc. industry experience; experience working with investment professionals / middle office business partners.CFA, CAIA is a plus.
