Job Opportunity: Assistant Vice President, Mechanical Engineer (Dallas, TX)
kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is a high‑performance consulting engineering firm designing data centers and mission‑critical environments worldwide.
About the Role
- Design complex cooling and HVAC systems, including air distribution, chiller plants, and alternative energy solutions.
- Lead projects and manage a team of mechanical engineers.
- Produce high‑quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals.
- Collaborate with multi‑discipline project teams to develop drawings and specifications.
- Attend client meetings and lead discussions, communicating complex mechanical engineering concepts to stakeholders.
- Direct and integrate mechanical engineering requirements into facility designs.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers while performing project management activities such as writing proposals, establishing budgets, and managing client interactions.
- Survey and evaluate existing conditions, perform construction administration, and resolve engineering design issues.
- Travel to client sites as needed.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is a technically sound mechanical engineer with a strong communication skill set, experience leading and developing complex projects, and a passion for mentoring junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Proven history in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on mechanical building systems.
- 10+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high‑performance, commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical/data center buildings.
- Experience mentoring and training others in the field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and related codes.
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with interior and exterior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of airflow.
- Mission Critical/Data Center experience.
- Experience with international projects and knowledge of international codes and standards.
