Overview

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer in our Sunrise office to grow our Commercial Practice in the Property & Buildings sector. This role is for a licensed Electrical Engineer with extensive commercial design experience and a blend of technical leadership and business development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced electrical engineering principles across all project phases from concept to construction close‑out.
  • Plan and integrate future‑ready electrical strategies, system concepts, and design requirements emphasizing safety, reliability, constructability and end‑user functionality.
  • Support projects throughout the entire lifecycle, managing electrical power, lighting, low‑voltage, and life‑safety systems.
  • Lead and oversee cross‑functional engineering teams on mid‑level and/or multiple concurrent projects; manage budgets, labor tracking, schedules, technical calculations, construction coordination, compliance documentation, and regulatory analysis.
  • Develop technical data and visualizations—including electrical load studies, single‑line diagrams, tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and system layouts—to communicate complex analyses and findings.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and client‑facing presentations that clearly convey design intent, technical findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Manage client relationships and contribute key electrical technical input in proposals, pursuits, and interview presentations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Exercise sound and ethical judgment in the use of company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of post‑education experience in electrical engineering design.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical design.
  • Well‑established network and known presence in the local community.
  • Proficiency with electrical engineering principles, practices, and application to permitting and project issues.
  • Experience in electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation, new design, and construction projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Ability to perform technical computations and calculations involving electrical engineering principles, interpreting plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Track record of coordinating and directing others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • LEED AP Certification.
  • At least 5+ years of Project Management experience.
  • 40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
