Position: Assistant Store Manager
Overview
The assistant store manager assists the store manager in planning, directing and controlling the operation of the store and supervising employees. They help oversee inventory, merchandising, losses, and profitability, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
- Plan and direct the daily operations of all departments.
- Supervise hiring, firing, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with all store policies, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist in ordering, inventory control, and merchandising.
- Support sales plans and work to maximize sales.
- Work a maximum 10‑hour day (normally) and be on 24‑hour call.
- Possess good interpersonal skills, maturity, and proven leadership.
- Basic math skills: read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Develop and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Be a self‑starter.
- Travel to and from work as required.
- Give verbal and written instructions.
- Read and interpret financial statements, including profit and loss.
- Operate all store equipment and cash register, program register, and balance cash.
- Assist with recruiting and training employees.
- Conduct meetings to communicate business results and direction.
- Operate telephones and intercoms.
- Write work schedules and reports.
- Deal effectively with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees, and employee representatives.
- Disciplin e employees when necessary.
- Assist in establishing and administering rules and regulations.
