POSITION SUMMARY
TheAssistantStore Manager serves as a primary point of contact for customers seeking technical product support and order assistance. This role works closely with the Store Manager, inside sales, warehouses, and purchasing teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment. TheAssistantStore Manager is responsible for providing knowledgeable and personable sales support to walk-in customers, contractors, and industrial accounts. This position requires a working understanding of fluid power, hydraulic, and industrial products and the ability to identify parts, process orders, maintain accurate inventory, as well as strong attention to detail, proficiency with ERP systems, and the ability to manage high call and in-person customer order volumes in a fast-paced environment while providing top-tier customer service and quality solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support the Store Manager in leading, coaching, and developing store team members.
- Assist with training new employees on products, procedures, hose assembly, and customer service standards.
- Help maintain a high-performing, customer-focused workforce.
- Provide expert technical support and product applications for hoses, fittings, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Oversee and handle daily customer interactions (in-person, phone, and counter sales).
- Identify and recommend appropriate replacement parts based on inspection, customer input, or described needs.
- Demonstrate products and explain features, benefits, and proper usage to customers.
- Identify and communicate sales opportunities and leads to the Store Manager and Territory Managers.
- Interpret basic hydraulic and pneumatic system schematics to ensure proper product selection.
- Fabricate and assemble hose assemblies using in-house equipment.
- Accurately process and fulfill customer orders.
- Perform on-site customer support as required.
- Maintain excellent store appearance, organization, merchandising, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Support inventory management including stocking, cycle counting, reconciliation, and shrinkage control.
- Assist the Store Manager with maintaining optimal inventory levels and operational efficiency.
- Deliver top-tier customer service and resolve customer issues and complaints within established authority levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial accounts, contractors, and key customers.
- Support the Kundinger Quality Control process through compliance with the Quality Management requirements, customer focus and continual improvement.
- All other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves frequent customer interaction throughout the day in a high-traffic environment and requires the ability to sit in a temperature-controlled environment for extended periods. This role also involves working in a warehouse and counter environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial equipment. The position requires the ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods of the day.
