Summary
Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches necessary to accomplish store goals. They are knowledgeable in each product area, uphold policies, procedures, and standards, and are passionate about outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise. They assume supervisory control in the Manager’s absence and are trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear
- Consult on establishing action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the Manager’s absence
- Assist in personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments as needed
- Track inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability
- Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards
- Inform the Manager about inventory movement and customer trends
- Maintain quality customer service
- Perform general administrative duties and understand Store Manager responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service, including greeting customers at entry and assisting during peak periods
- Promote and sell services and merchandise from Hibbett I City Gear
- Adhere to all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as per the operations manual, personnel manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos
- Protect company assets and financial information through accurate internal controls and report potential fraud risk
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager; performs interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and problem resolution.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel
- 1–3 years of customer service experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to assist in team management and achieve overall goals and profitability
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on tasks without prompting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandising
