Role Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in maintaining a clean, organized store with a focus on customer service. Responsibilities include supervising employees, managing merchandise presentation, completing paperwork, and assisting with store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. They perform stocking, cashiering, and security functions, ensuring inventory accuracy and financial integrity through cash handling and deposit procedures.
Key Duties
- Provide excellent customer service and operate cash registers.
- Assist with employee scheduling, training, and safety meetings.
- Manage merchandise receiving, stocking, and displays following company standards.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and implement planograms.
- Ensure cash control, security, and deposit procedures are followed.
- Support store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
Effective communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Ability to read manuals, perform math calculations, manage cash register functions, and understand cash handling policies. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for deposits are required.
Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Retail experience and supervisory skills are advantageous.
Working Conditions
Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 40-55 pounds, occasional climbing, driving, and working in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and outdoor exposure.
