Assistant Store Manager – Grocery

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a full-service grocery store. This role will partner closely with the Store Director to help lead store operations, department performance, merchandising, staffing, customer experience, and overall sales growth.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in grocery retail and be comfortable working across multiple departments while maintaining a visible, hands‑on presence throughout the store.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Director with overall store operations and daily execution.

• Provide leadership and direction to department managers and team members.

• Assist with grocery merchandising, pricing, promotions, inventory, and product presentation.

• Monitor store performance and help identify opportunities to improve sales, margin, labor, and shrink.

• Ensure departments maintain strong standards around customer service, cleanliness, quality, and in-stock conditions.

• Coach, train, and develop employees through a hands‑on leadership approach.

• Support staffing, scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day operational needs.

• Stay current on grocery trends, competitive pricing, customer preferences, and merchandising opportunities.

• Provide overall store leadership in the Store Director’s absence.

Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience within a grocery store, supermarket, or similar food retail environment .

• Experience as an Assistant Store Manager, Grocery Manager, Center Store Manager, Store Manager, or similar leadership role preferred.

• Strong understanding of grocery merchandising, pricing, inventory, shrink, and store operations.

• Experience leading and developing employees and department leaders.

• Strong communication, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.

• Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to balance people leadership, operational execution, and sales performance.

Compensation: $75,000 per year
