We bring experiences to the forefront of everything we do, and to do that takes special people.Position Overview The Assistant Project Manager helps a licensed Project Manager by overseeing many of the technical and production components of creating surveys and/or construction staking activities.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with Project Managers on scope, quality, progress and issues throughout the duration projectsReview project tasks daily with Crew Chiefs and monitor scope to be sure work aligns with contractMentor and train survey technicians and field crew membersWork with internal clients such as technical project managers from within the Geomatics Department and from other market sectors for coordination of daily work activitiesEnsure that junior CAD Technicians are following company standards, assist with technical questions, and the review of surveys for quality control prior to final review and sign off by Project ManagerAssist technicians with advanced researchAnalyze and balance traverse/control loopsReview and troubleshoot topographic surveys and digital terrain modelsReview and address title exceptions for ALTA/NSPS land title surveysProcess and analyzes various GPS file typesRead and interpret construction documents including, erosion control, storm drainage, utility, grading and roads, retaining wall, NCDOT, and architectural/structural plansPrepare field packages for construction staking/location surveysMaintain a safe work environment for all crew membersCommunicate respectfully with clients or project neighbors to insure a positive company imageMaintain good client relations to foster and perpetuate a long term relationshipFollow guidelines and company standards set forth by the Geomatics departmentAids in maintaining a safe and respectful work environment by following company policies and proceduresResponsible for escalating potential hazards and unsafe working conditionsSkills + ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDAAS or BS degree preferred5+ years of experience with a combination of time in both field and officeConstruction staking experience preferredNo certifications or licenses are required, but working towards licensure is preferredStrong fundamental knowledge of Land SurveyingAdvanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Carlson softwareExperience with Excel, Word, OutlookPast working with various web-based programs such as municipal GIS and county register of deeds sitesAdvanced knowledge of field collection and field staking methodsAbility to successfully work well with a diverse group of employees with various skill levelsWork Environment + Physical DemandsThe characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. When properly requested and when feasible (without undue hardship to the company), reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions, however when conducting field work, exposure to outside environmental conditions should be expected.Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. When working in the field, the need to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 or higher pounds may occur.Field based work will involve long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards encountered while maneuvering through project sites.Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.McAdams is an equal opportunity employer.
