Job Description
The Department of Health and Human Performance invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor rank in Sport Management. The successful candidate will teach, conduct research, and serve the department, college, university, and profession. In addition to teaching the undergraduate Sport and Recreation Management degree and the graduate Sport Management and Athletic Administration concentration, the candidate is expected to contribute to curriculum development, service, and research excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching
- Teach six to eight courses per academic year across undergraduate and graduate levels
- Contribute to the department’s core curriculum and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in areas of expertise
- Supervise and mentor master’s students, including guidance on theses and other graduate research projects
- Demonstrate commitment to effective and innovative pedagogy
- Advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels
Research
- Develop and sustain a productive program of research/creative activity leading to peer‑reviewed publications and presentations
- Seek internal and external funding to support research as appropriate to the discipline
- Direct and serve on master’s thesis committees
- Mentor and engage both graduate and undergraduate students in research
- Collaborate with faculty across departments and disciplines to advance the field of sport management
Service
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance
- Contribute to the professional community through reviewing, conference participation, and organizational service
- Engage in outreach or community engagement consistent with the mission of the university
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with businesses and organizations in the sport management industry
- Lead recruitment and retention efforts for the sport management programs
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Sport Management or a closely related field
- Evidence of effective teaching or teaching potential at the university level, including graduate-level instruction
- Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity in research
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to teach sport management classes at the college/university level
- Effective teaching record in both in‑person and online courses
- Record of peer‑reviewed publications or other scholarly outputs
- Experience with grant writing or external funding
- Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration
- Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research
Supervision of Others
- May be responsible for supervising Graduate Assistants and Student Lab Assistants
