Basic Function:

Under the direction of the Dean and the Associate Dean, theLecturer or Assistant Professor is responsible for providingacademic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduateand/or graduate courses. The Lecturer or Assistant Professor is toserve as an academic mentor to students; serve on faculty oruniversity committees; engage in scholarly activities and/orcreative endeavors. Furthermore, the newly hired Sports Managementfaculty member is expected to contribute and support the vision forthe program particularly towards creating innovative curricula,serving student needs towards professional development, being onpar with program grading expectations, as well as being a teamplayer towards program needs that include, but are not limited to:event promotion, club involvement, cross-course affordedopportunities, meetings, building and maintaining industryrelationships, and positive leadership scholarship.

Representative Duties:

• Primary responsibilities for this position include teachingSports Management courses at the undergraduate, and possiblegraduate level.
• 24 units for Assistant Professor, Lecturer for 24 or 32units/year. E
• Teaching responsibilities could include courses in two or moreof the following areas: Sports Analytics, Sports Ethics and Law,E-Sports, Sports Facilities, Design, and Management, and/orIntroduction to Sports Management. E
• Within that context, the expectation is to design creativeassignments and activities in one-on-one and classroominstructional settings to foster hands-on, active learning forstudents that will develop their expertise in the subject matter.E
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting courseobjectives and student learning outcomes through assignments,projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback promptlyto student inquiries in class, online, or during establishedconsultation office hours. E
• Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment,attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum; prepareand submit grades, data, and reports related to the course andstudent progress promptly. E
• Provide a course syllabus to students in each class within thefirst week of the class, as outlined in the faculty handbook.E
• Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advisingand service as outlined in the faculty handbook. E
• Attend and participate in committees and meetings. E
• Participate in marketing, promotions, and recruiting effortsfor the program via events, experiential learning, student-ledcompetitions, and more. E
• Evening and weekend hours may be required in part ofexperiential learning components. E
• Perform related duties as assigned. E

Assistant Professor

• Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advising,service, and scholarly, professional, and creative activities, asoutlined in the faculty handbook. E
• Maintain an active research program that involvesundergraduates. E

Minimum Qualifications:

For the Lecturer position, obtainment of a Master's Degree and forAssistant Professor, obtainment of a Doctoral Degree from anaccredited institution with an emphasis in Sports Management or aclosely related field.

ABD will also be accepted with a set date for when the degree willbe earned. Please note that ABD would come in at the Instructorlevel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference given to candidates with expertise in SportsAnalytics, Esports, or Sports Law and Agencies.
• Some relative work experience in the Sports Management field,which could include business operations, sport agencies, analyticalresearch and application, media programming, sales, facilitiesmanagement, event coordination, esports, marketing direction,player operations, among others.
• Research, service, and or creative activities focus towardscurrent trends in sports business (e.g., technologicalintegrations, fan engagement strategies, sport tourism, sportbetting and gambling, participation and investment in women'ssports, among others).
• Experience collaborating with sport industry professionals inteaching, research, and or professional networks.
