Assistant Professor of Strategy/Organization Theory (2 Open Positions)

Location: Long Beach, Southern California

Effective Date: August 17, 2027 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range: $6,221–$13,224 per month (12 monthly payments); anticipated hiring range $10,916–$11,750 per month.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business, Management, or Strategy, with a concentration in Strategic Management or Organizational Theory; degree at time of application or official notification of completion by August 1, 2027.
  • Demonstrated potential to teach and engage in curriculum development for Strategic Management or Organization Theory at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Demonstrated potential for research leading to peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated potential to contribute in service roles to department, college, university, and community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low‑socioeconomic and first‑generation students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching classes focused on strategic management or organization theory.
  • Expertise in case analysis and writing assessments for undergraduate program; strategy‑related teaching expertise will be considered.
  • Strong research pipelines and published or under‑review manuscripts in journals of recognized quality in the Strategy and Organization Theory fields.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations across demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.

Duties

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily in strategic management and organization theory; instruction may be in‑person, hybrid, online, or a combination.
  • Engage in research, scholarly and creative activities leading to conference presentations and publications.
  • Participate in service to department, college, university, and community.

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of a background check (criminal records check and telephone reference check with most recent employer) before hiring.
  • Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision related to sexual harassment within the last seven years after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer of employment.
  • Signing of a release form authorizing the release of information regarding any substantiated allegations of misconduct upon reaching the final stages of the application process.
  • Compliance with California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and CSU Executive Order 1083 regarding mandated reporter duties.
  • Proficiency in complying with CSU employment policies, including prohibition of work outside California (effective January 1, 2022) and U.S. residence requirements.
