Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

The B.S. in Sport Management offers primarily face-to-face courses, with some hybrid and fully online options, while the M.S. in Sport Management is a 100% online program featuring concentrations in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration and Sport Analytics. Additionally, the program fosters mutually beneficial partnerships with sports organizations to strengthen ties between academia and industry.
Job Summary
The Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Sport Management will be responsible for teaching sport management courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses, providing experiential learning opportunities, course and curriculum development, engaging in research and scholarship, participating in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives, and other assigned duties. The successful candidate may teach courses such as Sport Marketing and Promotion, Sport Event Management, Strategic Management in Sport Organizations, and other relevant areas within the program.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction in sport management courses at the undergraduate level through in-person delivery, with assigned instructional modalities consistent with program needs.
- Provide high-quality instruction in sport management courses at the graduate level in a fully online format, consistent with the structure of the graduate program.
- Design, deliver, and assess engaging undergraduate in-person courses and fully online graduate courses using evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with best practices in teaching and learning.
- Contribute to course and curriculum development for in-person undergraduate programs and fully online graduate programs.
- Engage in research and scholarly activity consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty member.
- Participate in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students, including students enrolled in fully online programs.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Sport Management, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is to be conferred by the start of employment (Aug 1).
- Ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established record of research and publication in academic journals.
- Capability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sport management, with an emphasis on collegiate athletics and sport analytics.
- Ability to build and sustain partnerships with sport/industry organizations to develop experiential learning opportunities for students (e.g., site visits, guest speakers, live projects, mentorships, and employer partnerships).
