Assistant Professor of Geology, tenure‑track faculty position at Utah Tech University, St. George, UT. Salary: $62,000+ (starting July 1, 2025). Location: St. George, UT. Job Type: Full‑Time Faculty. Start Date: August 2025.
Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credits of lecture and laboratory courses each academic year.
- Teach undergraduate courses in geology and related fields, focusing on surface processes, geomorphology, and environmental geology.
- Supervise undergraduate research projects and mentor students in research and academic development.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary research and education initiatives.
- Participate in departmental, college, university, and community service.
- Develop innovative course materials and teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment within the department.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geography, or a closely related field by the start date.
- Demonstrated expertise in surface processes, evidenced by publications and/or grant funding.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to engage with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Postdoctoral experience preferred.
Position Details, Compensation and Benefits
- Full‑time (9‑month) tenure‑track faculty position.
- Annual salary of $62,000+ depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
