Overview
West Virginia University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences seeks to fill one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on fundamental mechanisms underlying human ocular disease are particularly sought. Candidates with innovative research programs that demonstrate strong translational potential to advance the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of blinding diseases—including, but not limited to, retinal diseases, glaucoma, and corneal disorders—will be given the highest priority.

Responsibilities
- Develop an extramurally funded research program.
- Be an active participant in department and school-wide research forums and seminars.
- Participation in the educational mission of the School of Medicine is expected through teaching in undergraduate, graduate and/or professional programs.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for the position are a PhD and/or MD plus three (3) years of highly productive postdoctoral research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program and be an active participant in department and school-wide research forums and seminars. Participation in the educational mission of the School of Medicine is expected through teaching in undergraduate, graduate and/or professional programs.
