Description
The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full-time 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty member in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program. Within this role, opportunities exist for maintaining some clinical practice. Effective Date: August 1, 2026 or later depending upon availability of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities
- Teach and advise students within the OTD Program
- Engage in research with regular scholarly dissemination
- Engage in department, college, university service and/or professional service
- Contribute to OT Department outcome as assessment, OTD Program accreditation activities, curriculum and other continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in ongoing professional development in andragogy and clinical occupational therapist skills as related to teaching assignments
Required Qualifications
- Terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD)
- Occupational Therapy degree
- Tennessee licensed or eligible
- American Occupational Therapy Association member
- 3+ years full‑time clinical experience
- Expertise for lead teaching of
- research methodologies and evidence‑based practice
- additional program content areas related to clinical expertise
- additional program content areas related to evolving curricular need(s)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lead teaching at the doctoral level
- Experience in research with peer‑reviewed product dissemination
- Service and leadership in the occupational therapy profession
- Orthopedic clinical expertise with Certified Hand Therapist (CMT), Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), or other specialty certification
- Clinical experience in multiple healthcare settings (e.g., outpatient, acute care, home health, skilled nursing, inpatient rehab)
- Clinical experience with management of patients with significant multi‑system involvement
