Faculty Head & Neck SurgeryPractice clinical surgery in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, and the American College of Surgeons, properly balanced with other academic activities.Develop and maintain a clinical head and neck surgery practice for head and neck surgical patients referred to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.Provide physician staffing for the outpatient head and neck surgery clinic and the inpatient head and neck service at a level commensurate of that which would be provided by other head and neck surgeons with the same level of training and experience.Visually review for proper CPT coding and approve all surgical procedure charge documents within 5 working days.Complete patient documentation for medical records within time frames provided by institutional policy.Correspond as appropriate in writing or in telephone conversations with referring physicians regarding patient care and treatment.Keep abreast of current approaches in the management of patients through attendance at continuing education conferences in the specialty.Request appropriate medical consultations for head and neck patients by phone conversations or in writing to other physicians.Develop and maintain a surgical practice for oncology patients.Serve on institutional and hospital committees as requested by attending appropriate meetings which may include walking to each meeting site.Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Department.Develop programs of clinical and basic science research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the Department.Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support clinical research.Represent the Department of Head and Neck Surgery in local, regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of head and neck surgery.
