The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor to lead strategy and business development for the Colton Center for Autoimmunity. This role involves administering programmatic activities, fostering strategic partnerships, and advancing collaborative initiatives to position Mount Sinai as a leader in translational autoimmunity research. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Center activities, working closely with program leadership to advance scientific, operational, and administrative priorities of the autoimmunity program
  • Develop and manage RFAs, including designing, launching, and coordinating requests for applications, pilot grant programs, review processes, award tracking, and progress reporting
  • Advance strategic partnerships by identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with biotechnology, pharmaceutical, philanthropic, and academic partners
  • Collaborate with Mount Sinai Innovation Partners to identify translational opportunities, support intellectual property strategy, and facilitate industry engagement
  • Build academic collaborations across Mount Sinai departments, institutes, centers, and external partners to enable integrated research in autoimmunity
  • Support funding and philanthropic strategy by contributing to grant applications, philanthropic proposals, industry-facing materials, and strategic presentations
  • Manage communication and reporting, preparing scientific summaries, partnership briefs, annual reports, and other communications for stakeholders
  • Strengthen program visibility by organizing scientific meetings, workshops, advisory board interactions, and external communications

Compensation

  • Compensation range from $105,000 to $140,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
  • The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, PhD/MBA, MD/MBA or equivalent degree in Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral, translational, industry, program leadership, or equivalent experience
  • Experience coordinating complex scientific programs, collaborative research initiatives, grant programs, or strategic partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to work across academic, clinical, translational, philanthropic, and industry-facing environments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare scientific proposals, strategic documents, reports, donor-facing materials, and presentations
  • Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with senior faculty, institutional leadership, administrative teams, industry partners, philanthropic stakeholders, and external collaborators
  • Experience with academic-industry partnerships, technology transfer, clinical/translational research, program building, philanthropic engagement, or large program grants is strongly preferred
