Assistant Professor, Animal Science (Tenured/Tenure Track)

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts a requisite number of classes; Teaches assignedsubjects
• Provides guidance and supervision to students
• Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence inteaching, learning and research
• Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/hersubject(s)
• Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduledoffice hours
• Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements forlaboratory practical sessions, and provides materials tostudents
• Provides academic support to other faculty members
• Serves on departmental and University committees, asassigned
• Demonstrates grantsmanship and the ability to publish peerreview journals
• Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science or closely related field

Minimum Experience Five (5) years’ teaching experiencemanaging ruminant research and operations Extensive training in animal breeding, genetics and meat science aplus

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of Animal Science
• Excellent communication skills, verbal, written andinterpersonal
• Strong time management skills
• Passion for teaching and engaging with students
• Skilled in mentoring students
• Ability to work well with colleagues and foster a collegialenvironment conducive to teamwork and students’ high level oflearning
