Assistant or Associate Professor of Policy Communication
The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University invites applications for a tenured Associate or tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Policy Communication. This role seeks a social scientist with a robust research program in policy communication and teaching interests that include policy communication. Policy communication is defined as (a) communication about public policy in various contexts, including the communication of evidence on policy design and impact, and (b) communication policy—the study of the design, process, and impact of public policy that regulates or guides digital, mediated, or institutional communication.
Appointment is expected to begin July 01, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach undergraduate and master’s level courses in policy communication to support the school’s public policy and public administration degree programs.
- Maintain an active research agenda in policy communication, publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at national and international conferences.
- Engage in public scholarship and outreach activities that demonstrate the real‑world impact of research on public policy and communication.
Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent) in communication, social psychology, information science, or a related social science discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in policy communication, including experience in both communication about public policy and communication policy.
- Strong record of research publications, grant writing, and public engagement.
- Effective teaching experience and a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.

Salary and Benefits
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 – $175,000. Salary will be determined based on scope and responsibilities, relevant experience, education, and academic discipline.
