Assistant Optical Store Manager
Location: New York City

Our Assistant Store Managers play a key role in supporting store leadership, driving sales, and ensuring an exceptional client experience.
Base pay range
$60,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
- Partner with the Store Manager to recruit, train, and develop a high-performing sales and optical team.
- Lead and inspire associates by modeling exceptional customer service and styling expertise.
- Assist in planning and running daily team meetings to communicate priorities and motivate staff.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members to drive performance and growth.
- Act as the store leader in the Store Manager’s absence, ensuring consistent operations and customer experience.
- Support the achievement of sales goals through active selling, client engagement, and personal styling.
- Contribute to the execution of sales strategies, local marketing initiatives, and promotional events.
- Build strong client relationships through personalized service and follow-up.
Operational Excellence
- Assist in maintaining store presentation, organization, and merchandising standards.
- Help manage inventory control, cash handling, and daily opening/closing procedures.
- Coordinate with the in-store optometrist to maintain smooth patient scheduling and retail integration.
- Ensure accurate insurance processing, recordkeeping, and compliance with company policies.
Security & Safety
- Help monitor for potential loss prevention or safety risks.
- Support training of team members on security and safety procedures.
Qualifications
What You Bring
- 1+ years of retail leadership experience preferred; optical or medical office experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire.
- Proven ability to assist in driving sales and delivering excellent customer experiences.
- Highly organized and adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and inventory management tools.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
