Assistant Nurse Manager OR Hearts Pod 3

Position at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, a 1500‑bed Level One Trauma Center with 24/7 cardiac services. The Assistant Nurse Manager manages staffing, clinical operations, and leadership for 13 OR suites within the Hearts Pod.

Schedule & Working Hours

• 4/10 hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• 3–4 shared calls per year, taken a week at a time by phone

Key Responsibilities

• Manage 30 direct reports, including hiring, interviewing, training, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee staff scheduling, allocation to OR suites, overtime assignment, and payroll updates.
• Coordinate patient care according to planned interventions and document per policy.
• Create and implement collaborative care plans based on assessment and diagnosis.
• Generate staffing plans and lead meetings; prepare huddle agendas.
• Assist department in developing staffing, revenue, and expense budgets; ensure adherence to goals.
• Maintain equipment, monitor quality, and support safety‑sensitive operations.
• Participate in the development of departmental governance and policy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years experience in perioperative nursing management.
• Registered Nurse licensure.
• Experience with OR leadership preferred; cardiac surgery exposure a plus.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Requirements

• 5–10 years managerial experience.
• Experience with budget management and workforce planning.
