Assistant Instructional Professor

Description
The University of Chicago Department of Mathematics invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor. This is a non-tenure-track appointment, eligible for reappointment and promotion through the Instructional Professor ranks. Initial appointments at this rank are for a term of up to three years. A collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University governs the terms and conditions of employment for this position. The expected start date is September 1, 2027.
Position responsibilities typically include teaching six one-quarter courses per year, sustaining a professional development program that supports the educational mission of the Department, and contributing to the University's teaching mission through non-classroom instructional duties, service duties, or both.
Salary range: $93,500-$97,500 for a nine-month academic appointment, paid over twelve months.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field by the start date

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of effective teaching in a range of undergraduate mathematics courses, including single-variable calculus, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra
