Assistant General ManagerWe are looking for a skilled, motivated, and hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager to join the Constellation Culinary Group team at Carnegie Hall. This role is responsible for supporting the General Manager in the overall management of the Carnegie Hall food service program and taking a lead role in managing the Weill Café, including both daytime café service and pre-concert dining operations. The Weill Café operates as a public-facing retail café five days per week on a year-round basis and transforms into a full service pre-concert dining destination on select performance evenings from October through June.
This position requires strong operational flexibility, leadership presence, attention to detail, and the ability to execute across multiple styles of service in a fast-paced cultural venue environment.The Assistant General Manager will work closely with culinary, operations, marketing, and venue partners to ensure exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, and efficient day-to-day execution.What you'll be doing:Assist in managing food service operations in accordance with approved budgets and financial goalsOversee all daily operations of Weill Café, including daytime café service and evening restaurant operationsCollaborate with the Marketing team to develop and support initiatives that drive revenue, guest engagement, and visibility for the Weill CaféIdentify and support new culinary programming and revenue generating opportunities for the Weill Café and broader account operationsSupport venue programming, promotions, and special events through operational collaboration and executionSupport weekend and off-hours operational coverage as needed across Weill Café, event, and venue operationsPartner with culinary leadership on menu development, implementation, and refinement based on guest feedback and operational needsManage Weill Café reservations, seating flow, and guest experience standards to ensure optimal service levelsAssist with financial reporting, forecasting, labor management, and budgeting processesSupervise salaried managers and hourly associates while fostering a positive and accountable team cultureSupport hourly recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee development efforts with a focus on team retention and growthSupport payroll administration and labor tracking to ensure compliance with applicable Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rules, wage regulations, scheduling provisions, and reporting requirementsMaintain strong working relationships with Constellation staff, Carnegie Hall personnel, guests, and vendorsCoordinate equipment maintenance programs, service calls, and contractor/vendor visits in alignment with Carnegie Hall building policies and procedures to support uninterrupted operationsOversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships to ensure operational efficiency and cost controlEnsure accurate cash handling procedures, daily reconciliation, and accounts payable supportEnsure compliance with all sanitation, safety, health department, and HACCP standardsProvide operational support across the broader account as business needs requireWhat we're looking for:Minimum of two years of experience in food service or hospitality managementNYC Food Handlers CertificationStrong guest-facing communication skills with the ability to respond to feedback and customer service inquires in a professional, hospitality-driven mannerStrong financial, operational, and business acumenExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailProficiency with POS systems, scheduling platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to lead, motivate, and develop diverse teams in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Demands:Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of timeAbility to lift and carry up to 25 poundsAbility to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment with frequent movement between café, dining, and event spacesAbility to work a flexible schedule to meet operational demandPreferred Qualifications:Fine dining, cultural institution, or event hospitality experience preferredExperience with reservation platforms and guest management systemsFamiliarity with backstage catering or performance venue operationsCompensation Range $85,000/yr.Our Benefits:Medical (FT Employees)DentalVisionVoluntary UNUM offering for Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital IndemnityDiscount ProgramCommuter Benefits (Parking and Transit)EAP401kSick TimeHoliday Pay (9 paid holidays)Tuition Reimbursement (FT Employees)Paid Time OffAbout Constellation: From retail spaces to office buildings, Constellation provides high-quality business dining and catering experiences all over the United States.
