WINNER is opening its new flagship location at the Alloy Block in Downtown Brooklyn this September, and we’re building our team now!

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant General Manager to join the leadership team at our newest location and help bring the WINNER experience to life from day one.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Brooklyn hospitality group at a major new opening. The AGM will play a key role in establishing the culture, standards, and day-to-day operating rhythm of the restaurant while leading a strong front-of-house team.

WINNER is a Brooklyn-based hospitality group built around fresh, high-quality food, genuine hospitality, and welcoming neighborhood spaces. Our collection includes a lively American café, a wine bar, a butcher shop, and our Prospect Park kiosk.The Alloy Block will be our new flagship location in Downtown Brooklyn, and we’re looking for leaders who are excited to help build something from the ground up.

THE ROLE

The Assistant General Manager is a senior operational leader responsible for helping run the restaurant successfully day to day.

You’ll be a highly visible presence on the floor, leading service, supporting and developing the team, maintaining WINNER standards, and making thoughtful decisions in real time.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the middle of service, knows how to lead a team, and understands that great hospitality depends on both strong systems and genuine human connection.

You’ll work closely with WINNER Leadership, culinary leadership, and other department heads to ensure the restaurant is organized, staffed, clean, prepared, and operating at a high level.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead the Guest Experience

  • Lead by example in delivering warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuine hospitality.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor throughout service.
  • Make sure guests feel welcomed and cared for.
  • Handle guest concerns with empathy, professionalism, and good judgment.
  • Identify opportunities to continually improve the guest experience.

Run Great Service

  • Lead front-of-house operations during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure the restaurant is fully prepared for service, including staffing, reservations, floor setup, cleanliness, music, lighting, supplies, and service stations.
  • Monitor service flow and proactively adjust staffing, sections, pacing, and priorities.
  • Partner closely with culinary leadership to maintain smooth communication and service.
  • Monitor ticket times and overall restaurant flow.
  • Lead opening, shift-change, and closing procedures as assigned.

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Supervise and support front-of-house employees during service.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and real-time feedback.
  • Help onboard and train new employees on WINNER standards, service procedures, POS systems, and hospitality expectations.
  • Reinforce standards around appearance, punctuality, communication, cleanliness, service, and teamwork.
  • Recognize strong performance and identify opportunities for development.
  • Help build a respectful, accountable, and collaborative team culture.

Manage Labor & Staffing

  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on business volume.
  • Monitor labor during service and make adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with call-outs, shift coverage, breaks, and changes in staffing.
  • Identify staffing patterns and communicate recurring needs to leadership.
  • Balance the needs of the team with the operational needs of the restaurant.

Understand the Business

  • Monitor daily sales and business volume.
  • Understand how operational decisions affect revenue, labor, and profitability.
  • Maintain appropriate labor costs and minimize unnecessary expenses.
  • Monitor comps, voids, discounts, refunds, and other adjustments.
  • Protect company cash, inventory, equipment, and other assets.
  • Look for opportunities to improve sales, efficiency, and guest retention.

Keep the Restaurant Organized & Safe

  • Maintain clean, organized, and service-ready guest-facing areas.
  • Monitor supplies and service stations.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries as assigned.
  • Monitor product handling, labeling, dating, and rotation.
  • Reinforce food safety, sanitation, allergen, health department, and workplace safety standards.
  • Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, spills, and other safety concerns.

Support Events & Special Operations

  • Support private events, large parties, special dinners, and other catering events.
  • Coordinate FOH staffing, service setup, guest communication, and event execution.
  • Help ensure special events meet WINNER standards for hospitality and professionalism.
  • Adapt restaurant operations to accommodate changing business needs.
WHO YOU ARE

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 3+ years of progressive hospitality or restaurant experience.
  • Has previous management or supervisory experience in a full-service restaurant.
  • Understands what excellent hospitality looks like and knows how to deliver it consistently.
  • Is comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Is confident making decisions independently during service.
  • Communicates clearly, proactively, and professionally.
  • Enjoys coaching and developing people.
  • Is organized, accountable, and highly attentive to detail.
  • Has working knowledge of POS systems, reservations, scheduling, labor management, and restaurant operations.
  • Understands basic restaurant financial and labor metrics.
  • Can remain calm, professional, and solutions-oriented when things get busy.
  • Is willing and able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
  • Has a Food Protection Certificate, or is willing to obtain one as required.

  • Problems are addressed quickly rather than allowed to escalate.
  • The AGM can confidently lead the restaurant when senior leadership is not present.
