Position Summary
The Assistant General Counsel will support the firm’s General Counsel in legal matters and reporting. The position is located in Long Beach, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; San Francisco, CA; Bellevue, WA or Portland, OR, with remote or hybrid options depending on business needs.
Your Contributions and Responsibilities
- Assist the General Counsel in advising and representing the firm in legal and contractual matters.
- Provide legal guidance on client disputes, claims, professional standards, compliance, licensing issues, and employee matters.
- Prepare and review engagement letters, master services agreements, RFP responses, subcontractor, Kovel, non‑disclosure, SaaS, and other client and third‑party agreements.
- Independent management of subpoena compliance and other court‑related proceedings.
- Collaborate with Facilities to review lease and real‑estate documents.
- Protect the firm’s intellectual property, advise on fundamentals of IP protection, and coordinate with outside counsel on complex matters.
- Investigate and resolve employment‑related legal issues.
- Manage contracts/legal team to ensure timely resolution of stakeholder requests and meet KPIs/goals.
- Perform other projects as assigned.
Your Background and Skills
- Juris Doctor degree with 5 to 8 years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in‑house corporate attorney.
- Good standing with the Bar of at least one U.S. state.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Ability to anticipate and identify issues, weigh risks strategically.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a variety of contracts, including vendor and client agreements.
- Strong legal research experience across multiple practice areas.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to provide prompt, high‑quality service to firm stakeholders.
- Ability to explain complex legal issues to non‑legal stakeholders concisely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, keeping management informed of matters requiring attention.
- Interest in a long‑term role within a growing legal department.
- Required litigation experience.
- Professional liability defense experience preferred but not required.

Compensation
$163,000 to $220,000 depending on experience. More is possible if experience dictates.
