Associate General Counsel, Litigation And ComplianceWe are seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel, Litigation and Compliance to join our legal team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a highly capable attorney with 7+ years of experience in commercial litigation, compliance, or a related legal setting who is excited to work at the intersection of dispute management, proactive risk mitigation, and compliance strategy.This position will have a 50/50 focus on litigation and compliance:50% Litigation: managing litigation and pre-litigation claims, overseeing outside counsel, evaluating case strategy through trial and settlement, advising the business on litigation-related risks, supporting e-discovery, and helping the company take a disciplined, business-informed approach to disputes.50% Compliance: drafting and maintaining internal compliance policies, monitoring regulatory developments, supporting compliance program implementation, helping lead internal investigations, and partnering across functions to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.The successful candidate will be a strong writer, a strategic thinker, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a matrixed environment with internal stakeholders across business, HR, finance, operations, procurement, and executive leadership.Key responsibilities include:Managing a portfolio of commercial litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and claims from intake through resolution.Overseeing and strategically managing outside counsel, including budgeting, staffing, case strategy, performance expectations, and billing review.Assessing matters early and often, including liability, damages, business exposure, and practical settlement options.Preparing and delivering clear, concise case updates for legal leadership and business stakeholders.Supporting the development of litigation strategy through all phases of a matter, including pleadings, fact development, discovery, mediation, dispositive motions, trial readiness, and settlement evaluation.Partnering with the business to advise on the litigation implications of contractual provisions, risk allocation, dispute resolution clauses, indemnity language, and related commercial terms.Providing legal guidance on document preservation, legal holds, e-discovery, information governance, and records management.Coordinating internal fact gathering and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support case strategy and defensible outcomes.Assisting with mediation preparation, settlement negotiations, and post-resolution follow-up, including lessons learned and risk mitigation.Tracking developments across an active litigation docket and helping ensure timely, accurate internal reporting.Compliance responsibilities include:Drafting, revising, and helping manage internal compliance policies, procedures, and governance materials.Monitoring and assessing regulatory changes and emerging legal risks relevant to the company's operations and industry.Supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's antitrust compliance program and other core compliance initiatives.Conducting or supporting internal investigations, including fact development, witness interviews, documentation review, issue analysis, and remediation planning.Partnering with HR, internal audit, procurement, sales, operations, and other stakeholders on compliance-related matters.Helping develop and deliver practical compliance guidance and training materials tailored to business audiences.Advising on escalation pathways, issue spotting, and response protocols for potential compliance concerns.Assisting with compliance reporting, documentation, and follow-up actions to support accountability and program effectiveness.Promoting a proactive, solutions-oriented compliance culture grounded in ethics, transparency, and operational practicality.Required qualifications include:J.D. from an accredited law schoolActive state bar membership in good standing7 or more years of experience in litigation, compliance, or a similar legal practiceSignificant experience in commercial litigation and/or compliance counselingDemonstrated ability to manage outside counsel, including case strategy, budgets, staffing, and performanceExperience drafting case updates, legal analyses, and executive-ready summaries for internal stakeholdersExperience actively managing an active docket of litigation and pre-litigation mattersExperience supporting or participating in mediation and settlement discussionsStrong understanding of litigation processes, including discovery, motion practice, fact development, and case evaluationFamiliarity with e-discovery processes, legal holds, and document preservation requirementsExperience drafting, reviewing, or managing compliance policies, procedures, and internal guidanceStrong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesStrong written and oral communication skillsSound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalismTechnical/professional skills include:Proficiency with legal research platforms and tools (such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Practical Law, or similar)Comfort using or learning AI-enabled legal tools for legal research, workflow support, document review, issue spotting, and productivity enhancementExperience with Microsoft Purview is desired but not requiredStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to synthesize complex legal issues into practical, business-oriented
