Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chef role based in Evesham, NJ. The Chef prepares and cooks nutritious, appealing meals that meet dietary guidelines for residents and patients, including special diets and allergy considerations. Daily responsibilities include menu planning, food ordering and inventory management, maintaining high standards of kitchen sanitation and safety, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies. The Chef collaborates with dietary staff, nursing teams, and other colleagues to coordinate meal service times and accommodate individual needs. The role also involves training and guiding kitchen staff, managing food presentation, and supporting a welcoming dining experience that aligns with CareOne's person-centered culture.
Qualifications
- Experience in professional cooking, meal preparation, and menu planning in healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or similar settings.
- Knowledge of nutrition, special diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, texture-modified), and food safety regulations.
- Ability to manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, and cost-conscious food production.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills to handle high-volume meal service.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with dietary, clinical, and support staff.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment and adherence to local, state, and federal health codes.
- Prior experience in a long-term care, senior living, or healthcare facility is preferred.
- Culinary training or certification; ServSafe or equivalent food handler/manager certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work a flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays.
