Assistant Engineer - Traffic OperationsIteris is seeking an Assistant Engineer - Traffic Operations to perform a variety of technical activities in support of traffic operations and data collection projects. The position will assist with the analysis, assessment, and interpretation of data, conditions, and systems to plan and execute traffic signal retiming improvements. The position will also require regular coordination with public agencies and consultants.What you will be doing:Follow standard practice and proceduresAssist with collecting, analyzing, assessing, and interpreting data, conditions, and systems to plan and execute traffic signal retiming projects, covering the data collection phase through the project reporting phaseDevelop and implement strategies for improving arterial traffic flow and safety, prepare the development of system performance measurement tools, standard operating policies/procedures, deficiency reports and mitigation plans, coordinate with local agencies related to the operation and maintenance of traffic signals and arterial systemsProvide technical support for our TSM&O performance monitoring platformsRespond effectively to concerns related to traffic signal operationsPrepare correspondence and technical reportsExtensive local travel to conduct field workWhat you need to be successful in this role:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (consideration will be given for equivalent experience)Engineers In Training (EIT) requiredAbility to work independently with a passion for traffic engineering and operationsKnowledge of and ability to use Microsoft's Excel and Word programsAbility to work in field in Hampton Roads and Virginia BeachIteris anticipates paying between $71,100 and $79,200 for this role.
