Assistant District AttorneyThe Dougherty County District Attorney's Office is hiring on a continuous basis for an Assistant District Attorney. The purpose of this position is to prosecute felony crimes committed in Dougherty County.This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.Essential tasks include supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff; coordinating, assigning, and reviewing work; serving as counsel for the State of Georgia in the prosecution and trial of felony crimes in the Superior Court of Dougherty County; advocating on behalf of the State in cases appealed to the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia; reviewing and evaluating case files and making decisions regarding proper disposition; performing trial preparation; compiling witness lists; preparing and presenting cases to the Grand Jury for indictment; and performing related work as assigned.Minimum qualifications include a Juris Doctorate and six (6) years of courtroom trial experience, preferably with felony violations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Supplemental information includes physical demands, unavoidable hazards, special certifications and licenses, Americans With Disabilities Act compliance, essential safety functions, application deadline, drug and alcohol screening, background investigation, no smoking policy, and equal opportunity employer status.
