Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant Director of Football Sports Medicine is responsiblefor the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athleticinjuries to collegiate athletes. In addition, this positionadministers drug testing, insurance coordination, and travels withathletic teams to all events. The incumbent reports to theAssistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in theadministration of a Division I intercollegiate Athletic program inadherence to all university and Kentucky Board of Medical Licensureregulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Athletic Training orrelated field is required.

Experience: 3 years of Athletic Trainingexperience.

Licensure & Certifications: A valid driver'slicense is required. BOC National Certification required. A StateBoard of Medical Licensure Certification in Athletic Training isrequired. A Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure Athletic TrainingCertification Is Preferred. The successful applicant will obtain aKentucky Board of Medical Licensure within 3 months if not held athire. Valid state driver's license is required.

Job Duties

• 65% - Prevent injuries, treat sports related injuries, andrehabilitate assigned student athletes including taping, bracing,first aid, surgery consultation, medical communication, therapy,and follow up exercises. Monitor environmental conditions. -(Essential)
• 15% - Assist with the compilation, input, organization, andmaintenance of all medical records on University student-athletes,and share in the responsibility of maintaining and organizing theathletic training file system and departmental handbooks. -(Essential)
• 10% - Ensure timely and appropriate submission of insuranceclaims with the school's secondary insurance carrier. -(Essential)
• 5% - Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations,standards, policies and procedures. - (Essential)
• 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all otherduties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
