Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for CareerDevelopment, the Assistant Director provides comprehensive careerand professional development services to Eastern University (EU)students and alumni across all schools and academic levels(undergraduate, adult undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral). Thisrole balances direct student support—including one-on-one coaching,internship procurement, and workshop delivery—with strategicfaculty collaboration to embed career competencies directly intothe academic curriculum. The Assistant Director acts as a keychampion for student success, fostering a thriving career ecosystemboth on campus and virtually.
Position Responsibilities
Direct Student & Alumni Support
- Career Coaching: Provide individual, hybrid (in-personand virtual) career coaching to traditional undergraduate, adultundergraduate, graduate students, and alumni (up to two yearspost-graduation) focusing on goal-setting, resume building, andapplication strategies.
- Internship & Experience Promotion: Guide studentsthrough internship procurement and practical experience pathways,actively supporting departmental internship initiatives.
- Resource Management: Maintain and update robust onlinecareer resources tailored to a diverse student body; track anddocument all student/alumni interactions within the Handshakeplatform.
- AI Career Readiness: Educate students and alumni on theresponsible, ethical and effective use of AI in career exploration,resume and cover letter development, interviewing, networking, andlifelong career management.
Programming, Presentations & Marketing
- Workshop Delivery: Design, promote, and execute dynamicin-person and virtual presentations, webinars, and multimediacontent (e.g., YouTube, Zoom) on career readiness. Collaborate withthe Employer Relations Coordinator to incorporate employerengagement where applicable.
- Event Management: Plan, market, and execute a fullcalendar of career activities and networking events to connectstudents with professional opportunities; partner closely with theEmployer Relations to drive robust student and employer engagementfor major career fairs.
- Admissions & Campus Events: Represent the Center forCareer Development at admissions, student success, career fairs,and university-wide events across various EU locations asrequired.
Faculty Collaboration & Curriculum Integration
- Academic Partnerships: Collaborate with the Center forTeaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) and faculty to integratecareer education and NACE competencies directly into coursecontent.
- Faculty Education: Present regularly at facultyworkshops and departmental meetings to advocate for careerreadiness and build internal partnerships.
- Alumni & Advancement Relations: Partner with theAdvancement and Alumni offices to engage alumni for panels,networking events, and internship/job referrals.
Operations, Assessment & Supervision
- Data & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and compileannual first-destination survey data for students intocomprehensive institutional reports.
- Technology Management: Identify, onboard, train, andmarket relevant career services software and platforms to the EUcommunity.
- Program Assessment: Evaluate the effectiveness ofworkshops and services regularly, utilizing outcomes to drivecontinuous programmatic improvement.
- Student Personnel Supervision: Manage the Center’sstudent worker program, overseeing the hiring, training, andperformance assessment of undergraduate student workers andgraduate assistants.

Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of progressively responsibleexperience in higher education, career development, talentacquisition, employer relations, workforce development, studentsuccess or related field, including experience coaching, advising,or supporting diverse populations.
- Familiarity Platforms & Frameworks: Knowledge of (orability to quickly learn) Colleague, Brightspace (D2L), Zoom,Handshake, Big Interview, Parker Dewey, Career Everywhere(uConnect), and NACE's Professional Competencies for HigherEducation Career Services Practitioners.
