Assistant Designer Intimates

Our client, a leading intimates and apparel brand, is seeking a Freelance Assistant Designer, Intimates to support the New York design team. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level designer with a strong fashion eye, exceptional Adobe Illustrator skills, and a passion for lingerie design to gain hands-on experience across the product development lifecycle.The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of lingerie construction, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A positive attitude, adaptability, strong organizational skills, and openness to feedback are essential for success.

• Hourly pay rate $30.00-$35.00 based on experience
• Location: NYC hybrid, 3 days onsite
• Duration: 6 months opportunity to extend

Responsibilities:

• Support the design team in developing brand-right, commercially viable intimate apparel collections
• Create technical CADs, flat sketches, line sheets, and presentation materials using Adobe Illustrator
• Assist with tech pack development and accurate construction specifications
• Build and maintain the sample room, ensuring organization and efficiency throughout the development process
• Coordinate product samples, prototypes, and development tracking to meet key deadlines
• Participate in fittings and collaborate with Technical Design on garment execution and fit improvements
• Conduct trend, market, and competitor research to support seasonal design concepts
• Create mood boards, concept presentations, and inspirational research materials
• Communicate development updates with internal cross-functional partners and vendors
• Support milestone meetings, presentations, and seasonal line reviews
• Adapt designs and development materials based on feedback and evolving business needs

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience
• Entry-level experience within apparel design, internships included
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office
• Experience creating technical CADs, lace patterns, fabric textures, and color CADs
• Understanding of lingerie construction, intimate apparel fit, and garment development
• Knowledge of tech pack creation and product development processes
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills
• Flexible, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-changing environment
